Mother's Day Weekend: Mommy loves you

mother's day 2012
This mother's day over dinner (yummy Mexican food of course) Daddy Teems asked me to reflect on being a mommy for 14 months.  Well I realized that motherhood isn't as easy as some mother's make it out to be.  I truly enjoy being a mommy and wouldn't change it for the world, but it is life changing.
  • Time management is key to making motherhood run smoothly; this is something that I have to work on (not only for motherhood but wifeyhood as well).
  • I thought teaching made me a more patient person, motherhood has really taught me patience.
  • Motherhood is teaching me the importance of having a schedule.  Christiana pretty much has a night time routine, but beyond that she doesn't have one (unless she's at daycare).
  • I learned that I need to give simple commands and instructions.  I have to remember that she is just a baby and she is learning new skills on a daily basis.
  • I learned that I need to set time aside for myself and daddy
  • I learned to enjoy every minute of our time together and every milestone (she's growing so fast).
  • Motherhood has taught me to enjoy the quiet moments
  • It has also taught me that everything can be a teachable moment and that babies loves to learn
  • It has also taught me that although she may cry when I take something away, that in the long run it will pay off.
  • I also learned to be more aware of my surroundings and when we go places to have snacks and semi-kid friendly
  • I also can't stay out all night, Christiana has a bedtime so if we don't have a babysitter our night has to end no later than 8
There are sooo many more things that I have learned within this short amount of time and am looking forward to learning more!  I enjoy the gift that we have been blessed with and wouldn't change it for anything (I do know I am not ready for number 2 just yet).  I found this wonderful poem about motherhood:

"Reflections of a Mother"

Christiana 1 day old
I gave you life, but I cannot live for you.
I can teach you things, but I cannot make you learn.
I can give you directions, but I cannot be there to lead you.

I can take you to church, but I cannot make you believe.
I can teach you right from wrong, but I cannot always decide for you.
I can buy you beautiful clothes, but I cannot make you beautiful inside.

I can offer you advice, but I cannot accept it for you.

I can give love, but I cannot force it upon you.
I can teach you respect, but I cannot force you to show honor.
