Guess who went poo-poo in the potty? Munchie did!! (This post is like a month old! Better later than never right?)
Now that Christiana is 2 we decided to start really getting her familar with the potty. Yaaaay for us right! It's going to be a long journey but something that we are looking forward to.
Anyhoo my mother told us the best way to potty train to let them in a way train themselves. What does that mean you may ask? She said to buy her "pretty panties" bigger because girls don't like the feeling of wet panties and will eventually start going to the bathroom on their own. If we continually ask her if she has to go to the bathroom or take her to the bathroom every few minutes then we are potty training ourselves instead of them. Know what I mean? She'll be waiting on our bathroom cues instead of finding out on our on.
So how is our journey through potty time? We are starting out by letting her wear her pretty panties at home on the weekends and when we get home after work. A couple of weeks ago she told us that she needed to pee-pee in the potty and had a big ole poo-poo in the potty. No cues from us or anything! How awesome is that!!!
It was the cutest thing of how it went down. I told Christiana that I had to use the bathroom and she said "me too" so I took her diaper off and let her sit on the potty while I went to the bathroom. So she sat and started saying "puuush it out, puuush it out" (that's what I used to say to her when she was constipated while rubbing her tummy) and she pushed out a HUGE poo-poo! I was soooo excited! She got a huge kiss and song from the both of us and I let her pour her poo-poo in the big potty! She felt like such a big girl. Now when she wants to "pee-pee in the potty" (most times she just sits) she'll get up and look in the potty to see if she has something to pour.
Now she is in no way completely potty trained, but she is on the right track to becoming trained. :O)
