This was a great Christmas season! As always this is the time to see family that we haven't seen in months, eat great food, and relax.
Christmas morning was awesome! Last year Christiana didn't know anything about opening gifts, but this year she was a pro! She even was "OOOhhh and ahhhing" and saying "Woooow"! How funny is that? Of course she had lots of goodies under the tree, despite us saying that she really didn't need anything (we are always picking up items her and there throughout the year). The life of a parent, right? I did let daddy Teems know that I would like to donate some of her old toys as she get more. We can explain to her the it's important to give to others who are less fortunate. If we start this young she will grow up not being selfish and that the items she's giving away will make someone else happy (like how she was happy when she received them).
Christmas eve we spend time with daddy Teems side of the family. This is another one of their family traditions. Every Christmas Eve everyone meets at Auntie DayDay's to have some of her yummy gumbo and oyster loaf. She usually has some sort of gift exchange/game, the Christmas Story movie on, and all of the kids (young and old) talk and fun with one another. This year was extra special for the littles, she had 2 special guests...Santa & Mrs. Claus! They read "The Night Before Christmas" and handed out gifts. Both Munchie & Tuttie didn't want to go too close to Santa but we managed to snap a family picture with them. She also got to play with her cousins that she only sees during holidays, so that's always nice. Oh and I cannot forget how excited Christiana was when Taylor came through the door! It's like they haven't seen each other in ages, I love it and I always try to capture those moments.
Our gift to them were homemade Christmas themed cupcakes. They were absolutely adorable! I cannot wait until Christiana starts school because I will be that parent that brings cutesy cupcakes for her class. :O)

Anyhoo on on to Christmas day.
Christmas day we spend time with my family. My momma usually cooks breakfast but this year me and my sister cooked dinner. Hats off to all the people that take on ANY holiday dinner by yourself! First of all it's super expensive but planning and time management is key. The turkey with the oil for the deep fryer and seasoning was almost $100! Jeesh! Of course I waited until the last minute to do the shopping so I woke On our menu was:
- deep fried turkey (which I made AND was my first time cooking a turkey),
- sweet potato pudding (a family recipe that I made)
- mac & cheese (another family recipe that Joy made)
- string beans (Joy made this as well)
- dressing with gravy (my momma made this, she couldn't stay out of the kitchen)
- dessert: sweet potato pie and peach cobbler (poppa Mat brought those)
We also had a gift exchange/game and caught up with each other. I'm super bummed that I didn't take more pictures, but that's what happens when you are preparing food instead of waiting to eat the food.
This Christmas was also great because last year my mother was in the hospital and she couldn't spend time with Christiana, actually with any of us. We had to visit her in shifts and there were times when she was unresponsive, so again it was a great blessing to have her with us. On another note it was also very difficult for her to relinquish her kitchen to Joy and I. She's usually the boss of the kitchen so she would pop in the kitchen and look over our shoulders to see what we were doing. I told her that we are doing this so that we can be able to prepare her recipes for our families in the future.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
