A cute little poem that I found:
As I Watch You Sleep-
© Wanda L. Gossett
I watched a little face sleeping,
Eyelashes fluttering so,
I wondered of the dream you were having,
and if Angles were playing there.
I watched a little face sleeping,
Your little mouth was smiling so,
I hope that you are as happy as me,
holding you in my arms.
I watched a little face sleeping,
making sure of the breath you take,
to watch you breathe and keep you safe,
is all that matters to me.
I watched a little face sleeping,
holding your small hand in mine,
five little fingers on each hand,
as one hangs onto mine.
I watched a little face sleeping,
and as I prayed to myself,
I thank God for letting me
watch a little face sleeping.

From the moment I brought Christiana home from the hospital I love watching her sleep. I didn't think something as simple as watching my baby sleep could be so emotional. I remember the first time she fell asleep in my arms she was sooo tiny! She was about the size of my forearm, now at 9 months she is hanging over my lap! I want her to slow down so I can enjoy these little moments. Even as I am typing I keep stealing glances at her sleep. She looks so peaceful lying right next to me I just want to pick her up kiss her little forehead, but I know that will wake her so I just settle for a light little kiss on the top of her head.
Right now Christiana sleeps in the bed with me. I used to be one of those people that said "HECK NO when I have my child they will not be sleeping with me!!" now I am eating my words. I love the way she inches to be closer to me while she sleeps, it makes me feel like she doesn't want to be too far away from me. I love the way she nuzzles up against me. I love the way if my back is turned away from her she pulls on my shoulder to get me to turn around (yes at 9 months she does this). It's going to be so hard to get her to sleep in her own bed, but right now I am enjoying our little slumber party :O) Our own little mommy and me sleep time. Bedtime is one of the special moments that we share.
When you lie down, you will not be afraid; Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet.

Mommy loves you!!

Get that baby out the bed so that you can work on #2! Ha ha ! Just kidding! We've all judged other parents for the things they did before we became parents and now look at us. WE ARE THEM!!! I have eaten my words hundreds of times Chineye. I've learned not to be so quick to judge. God always has a way of showing us our faults. I've learned so much about myself ~ strengths and weaknesses~ since becoming a parent. I love it....sometimes :/
ReplyDeleteGiiiirl you aren't lying! Man we sure are those parents. It's all good though; like you said "God always has a way of showing us our faults" I don't mind Him showing me my faults because then we will never grow so we can be better parents.
